1 yr old male Shiba Inu
Koa is a puppy mill survivor who has been rescued along with his brother Ryu (also on our Coming Soon page). Although just 1 yr old, he has spent his entire life in a puppy mill, so he does not know what it means to be a pet, live in a home, and have a relationship with humans. He is fortunate to get out of that environment at such young age, however, he is still very fearful, is a flight risk, and requires special handling. He is not ready for adoption yet; he will need rehabilitation first. How long that will take is unknown, but likely 3-6 months. Every mill dog is different, and youth is on his side! He has been placed in one of our foster homes that is experienced with super fearful mill survivors. They have another dog in the home to help Koa feel safe and less anxious. So far he is doing well, and his foster dad has already nicknamed him “Curious George”. An appropriate name for a dog that’s lived their entire life in a cage and is investigating the world for the first time! 😉 Stay tuned for updates on Koa!
