Leon (renamed Yokai)
6 month old Shiba/Husky/Eskie mix
Leon has been adopted and has a new name; Yokai. He was bought at a pet store by a couple who didn’t have time for him. He was confined to his crate for long hours, ignored, under exercised, and under stimulated for far too long. A kind soul recognized that this wasn’t right and took him in. But being disabled, he was unable to manage to this crazy puppy’s needs. Thankfully, he contacted us!
Yokai is so darn cute and sweet; it’s easy to fall in love. But as an under socialized dog with no manners, and still not quite house trained, he was going to be a handful for sure! To ensure success, we needed to find an experienced adopter with another mature, playful, dog to show him the ropes and teach him how to be a good dog.
Erik and Morgan are COSIR alumni; they adopted Stitch a few years ago. Stitch’s story was similar to Yokai’s; an unruly pup who needed a leader and a best friend. Their senior dog, Ash was an excellent big brother and teacher. With Ash’s guidance, combined with with Erik and Morgan’s aptitude for training, Stitch grew into the good boy that he is today.
When Ash crossed the rainbow bridge, the whole family was heartbroken. They needed another dog to help them heal and feel like a complete family again. We knew they would be the perfect fit for a dog like Yokai, and the meet and greet went better than we could have imagined! Yokai was drawn to Erik and Morgan right away and the dogs got along famously! It was now Stitch’s turn to be the big brother.
Yokai is doing fantastic and their family is complete once again. Stitch has done a fantastic job honoring Ash’s memory by showing Yokai the ropes and being the best friend he’ll ever have! Congrats to Erik, Morgan, Stitch and Yokai!
