Amy (now Suki)
Amy, renamed Suki, has been adopted! Suki lived with the breeder until she was 8 months old. She was undersocialized and overly sheltered, making her an anxious and insecure Shiba. The breeder sold her to a lovely senior couple, but they had no idea what it meant to raise a Shiba, especially an anxious, allergy-ridden one who runs when she’s scared! They tried for over a year, but 2 yr old Suki proved to be more than they could handle. They recognized that she needed someone with the time, energy, and Shiba experience to thrive, and loved her enough to let her go.
Matt adopted Toki from us in 2018 and he’s a fantastic Shiba dad! When Matt casually commented on another dog’s post, we wondered if it meant he was thinking about adopting again, so we reached out. His family had since grown to include a cat and his girlfriend’s dog, so he wasn’t really looking to adopt, but would be happy to help a Shiba in need by fostering.
We witnessed Toki’s transformation from an anxious/fearful boy into the confident adventurous dog he is today, thanks to Matt’s patience and compassion, so we knew he could do it again for Suki. Suki was much more at ease transitioning to Matt’s home than we’d ever anticipated. She bonded quickly with her humans, the dogs, and the cat. How well Suki fit into their family was undeniable, so it didn’t take Matt long to decide that they were meant to be her forever home. This is one adorable little pack, and we are extremely happy to have brought them together! We love a good “foster fail”!
