Bentley
*COURTESY POST* – 4 yr old male Shiba/American Eskimo mix, no kids <13
Bentley is a 4 yr old neutered Shiba/American Eskimo mix who lives in Wisconsin. Wisconsin is too far for us to take him into rescue, so we are trying to help Bentley’s family by posting and screening applicants for them. Qualified applications will be passed along to his family, and put them into direct contact with them for a private adoption.
Bentley has not done well since their baby arrived and desperately needs a home with no children under 13 yrs old. He has bitten, but there were no injuries; he did not break skin. Bentley needs a calm stable home with no small kids, and no possibility of kids in his lifetime (another 10-12 yrs). In the right environment, with experienced adopters, we believe Bentley will thrive. This is a very common scenario with Shibas, and why it is so important to socialize your Shibas to young children from day 1, even if you’re not planning to have kids!
Like most Shibas, Bentley is hit or miss with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats. He will guard human food, but not his dog food. Simply crating him or confining him to another room, during human meal times is a simple way to prevent any potential issues.
Bentley has lots of energy and will need daily walks. He is accustomed to having a yard with a 5 ft fence. The American Eskimo in him means that he will alert bark. For these reasons, he would likely do best in a home vs. apartment.
He is house trained and crate trained. He loves his crate.
If you are interested in Bentley, meet his requirements, live in WI or are willing to make a drive to WI, please complete an adoption application. Qualified applications will be passed along to Bentley’s family.
