**ON ADOPTION TRIAL** 7 yr old male Shiba Inu *no cats *no kids under 14 –
Cash has lived his life as an outdoor-only dog in a rural area. With too much freedom and not enough stimulation, he got himself into trouble killing the neighbor’s chickens. Now in rescue, Cash is an indoor dog, enjoys playing with his humans and loves being part of a family! He is very much an attention hog and a bit of a cuddler. However, he is visibly anxious around children and elderly people. He will bark at kids younger than teens.
Cash would do well as an only dog, as he would love to be apple of his human’s eye, but he also gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He loves to play chase and tug-o-war with them. He is a resource guarder when it comes to high value treats, so can only have them if separated from the other dogs. He should not live with cats; far too tempting for him to chase and torment!
Cash is house trained and will bark to let you know when he needs out. He is also learning to use the doggy door. He is crate trained and prefers his crate for nap time and a quiet place to go if he’s needing alone time. Other than ‘sit’ he has not been taught any manners yet, but he is still a good boy. His adopters will need to work on not rewarding him for attention seeking behaviors like jumping up and nipping when he’s excited or wants attention. Cash is a smart boy and will respond well to positive reinforcement techniques.
Cash would do well with a moderately active adopter who gets him out for a daily walk and sniff. He treasures his outdoor time, and after 7 years of freedom to roam a multi-acre property would likely struggle to adapt to apartment/condo life, so we prefer a home with a yard for him. He’s high risk for bolting out of an open door or gate, so adopters will need to be diligent. He really enjoys riding in the car and just wants to be with his human come what may!
Cash’s adoption fee is $175 and includes his neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test, and microchip. If you are interested in Cash, please fill out an adoption application here.
