Chance
COURTESY POST – 3 yr old male Shiba Inu *no dogs* –
Chance was rescued from a bad situation by a kind soul and he’s had a great life the last 2 years with them. De to unfortunate circumstances, they can no longer offer him the time and care he deserves, and wants better for Chance. Chance lives in Michigan and we are looking for an adopter living in, or willing to drive to Michigan to adopt.
Chance does not do well when other dogs come into his home, and needs to be an only dog. He can pass by and walk along with other dogs, but doesn’t have any real experience actually greeting or interacting with dogs. He seems most comfortable with just ignoring, and being ignored. He would not do well in a home where being able to go to doggy daycare or socialize with
Chance is a very friendly boy who loves meeting new people and getting pets. He has never lived with kids but will take treats from them, or anyone really 😉 He is full of energy and needs an active adopter. He is always down for a walk or hike. He loves to play fetch and splashing around in a river.
Chance is a bolter/runner. He’s the kind of Shiba that requires proper door etiquette to prevent bolting, so a busy home where kids come and go and are not about closing doors behind then is not a good fit.
Chance is house trained, but has not been properly crate trained. He is anxious and stressed in a crate. He may have some separation or confinement anxiety going on. He is a still a chewer, so needs lots of chewy toy options to keep him out of trouble. He will alert bark when people pass by his apartment. He would do better in a home where barking is not an issue or a quiet uneventful neighborhood, where there are fewer triggers for him to react to.
Chance is not in Colorado, or in rescue custody. He is still living in his current home in Michigan. His guardian has also reached out to the other Shiba rescues that serve their area. We hope our post will generate qualified applications that we can pass along to either his mom or the other Shiba rescues in an effort to find him the right home. Applicants must live in, or willing to travel to, the Michigan.
If you are interested in Chance, please complete an adoption application. COSIR will screen all applicants on his family’s behalf.
