Fundraiser for Chigo’s critical care
Chigo had been on our waitlist to come into rescue and was still with his surrendering family. We got a call from them on Thursday night as they were rushing him to the ER. He was vomiting blood and hadn’t had anything to eat or drink in a couple days. With no ability to pay for the ER visit, COSIR immediately took ownership of Chigo so that he could be treated.
He was very lethargic and severely dehydrated; to the point that his organs would have started to shut down had he not received IV fluids. X-rays were inconclusive, blood work showed high white cell count indicating possible infection, and the doctor felt a lump near his prostate. Ultrasound was also inconclusive, and he will need a biopsy to determine if he is suffering from severe Irritable Bowel Disease or Intestinal Cancer. His ER bill is already at $3000. The biopsy is estimated to be another $3K-$5K! This will deplete our remaining funds for the year that we need to continue to care for the other dogs in rescue. Please help us raise the funds needed to get his biopsy, and god willing, a non-cancer diagnosis!
Who are we? Colorado Shiba Inu Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit rescue dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of Shiba Inus. While in rescue, all our dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given heartworm prevention and all necessary veterinary care to ensure they are healthy and ready for their forever home. We also provide post adoption training for our younger dogs and maintain a lifelong relationship of support with our alumni. Our staff are all volunteers donating their free time to rescue. 100% of your donation goes to the care of our dogs!
