Hikari
5 yr old female Shiba, no dogs, $275 adoption fee:
With just 3 legs, and half of one ear missing, Hikari’s appearance is the first indication that she’s not had an easy life. She’s had at least 3 homes in her 5 years. Her need to be the only dog, and propensity for escaping, are the reasons for this. Although she likes meeting other dogs when out on walks, she does not tolerate other dogs in her home.
Hikari is very sweet and friendly girl who enjoys meeting new people. She has done well meeting and taking treats from kids as young 3, who are respectful. She has not been tested with cats.
Hikari is a skilled escape artist, so will need a Shiba-proof home with a diligent adopter who will be pro-active about keeping her safe. She is house trained, but has never been introduced to a crate. Her favorite pastimes are going for walks, napping, and eating delicious, chewy treats. Like so many Shibas, she is not a fan of loud noises and gets quite anxious, so a relatively quiet home is best.
Hikari lost her leg when a previous owner could not afford proper vet care after an injury, but she does not let that slow her down. Continued use of joint supplements may help postpone and reduce arthritis pain as she ages. She lost half of one of her ears in a fight with another dog in her first home. We are committed to finding Hikari her forever home, not just her next home, so we will only consider homes with no dogs.
Hikari’s adoption fee is $275 and includes her spay, vaccinations, heartworm test, microchip, and initial training class/private session with a COSIR approved trainer
