Yukio
Yukio has been adopted! –
This is Yukio’s 2nd time as a COSIR dog. We 1st rescue him from an abusive situation in 2017; he was just 2 years old. We adopted him to a wonderful couple, who gave him an amazing life. He’d been a city dog before rescued, but quickly adjusted to being a mountain dog who loved hiking, exploring, and monitoring the local wildlife activity. He also enjoyed the companionship of his Shibling, Hiroki, who’d also been adopted from COSIR.
Now, at 8 years old, Yukio’s happy life took a heartbreaking turn. His mom passed away after a long battle with cancer. Sadly, his dad’s health was also failing, requiring him to move cross-country to live with his daughter. Unfortunately, taking Yukio & Hiroki with him was not an option, so he made the gut-wrenching decision to return both of them to us. We always strive to keep bonded pairs together, but it was not going to be easy on a tight timeframe.
Larry & LaDana have been fosters and supporters of COSIR for a few years. They are also alumni; they adopted Wiley earlier this year. They are incredibly kind people who, despite already having a full house with 3 dogs, are always offering to help us out should we find ourselves in a pinch! Pinched, we reached out to share Yukio & Hiroki’s incredibly sad story and they were all ears. Knowing how quickly we needed to place them, and how desperate we were to keep them together, they agreed to foster them.
After slow introductions, Yukio & Hiroki found their place in the pack. Yukio quickly bonded to Larry, and became his official side kick! Yukio loves running alongside Larry driving the 4-wheeler around their 5-acre property. He insists on going everywhere with Larry and will hop into the truck to be sure he doesn’t miss an opportunity. He learned to open doors, as he won’t be denied access to Larry! Yukio’s antics really took hold of Larry’s heart, and there was no way Yukio wasn’t going to become a permanent part of this family. But the best part is…
Hiroki will turn 14 soon and LaDana & Larry will continue fostering him the rest of his days, just so these brothers are sure to stay together!
Congrats to Yukio & Hiroki, Larry, LaDana, Wiley, Theo, and Arie!
