1 yr old male Shiba, NO DOGS, NO APTS/CONDOS –
**HOME VISIT PENDING**
We need an appropriate foster home to bring Hudson into rescue. He is reactive to the other Shiba in his home, and needs to be an only dog. He has not been tested with cats. He has lived successfully with older kids (teens). He is used to having a yard, and people that are home more than usual. He is house trained and crate trained.
Hudson is a frustrated pup and is taking it out on his housemate. Unfortunately, his people got some bad training advice, and for the better part of a year, he’s been overly restricted to small spaces and tethered inside and outside the home. He’s a Shiba; they don’t respond well to being denied freedoms. We recommended they lighten his restrictions and he has improved, but the relationship with the other Shiba is damaged, so they still need to be kept separated. That’s no life for him or the other dog. As an only dog, he will finally be allowed to become who he wants to be, be more responsive to training, and live a fulfilled life.
Although he may be able to live with another dog someday, his best chance for success right now, is in a home with no dogs; no exceptions. We believe he will also do best in a home with a yard, with a fence secure enough to prevent escapes so he can be untethered outside (with supervision) too. He’s is very much an adolescent Shiba puppy. He will need more training and will challenge his people for sure, so experience with the breed (or like breed) is a must; no exceptions.
If you’re your home is dog-free, has a securely fenced yard, and you have Shiba, or like breed experience, please visit our site to submit an application to foster or adopt.
