Katie
Katie has been adopted! Katie was an award winning show dog for many years. After retirement, she was adopted by a mother and daughter who loved her dearly. Unfortunately, both of her moms tragically passed away, leaving Katie homeless at 11 years old. Katie was grieving and her whole world had just turned upside down. We needed to find her the right home, and quickly.
Pam had many breeds over the years, but prefers Shibas because “they are the most loyal and loving dogs I’ve ever had the privilege to be owned by”. Pam is also partial to senior dogs, like Saki, who she’d adopted from us in 2019 at 13 yrs old! When Saki passed away last year, Pam was heartbroken. She needed time to heal, but told us it was ok to reach out if we had any seniors in need of a good home. The first time we reached out, Pam wasn’t ready.
When we reached out the second time, Pam still wasn’t sure, but when we told her the dog’s name was “Katie” she got excited. “I had a cat named Katie”, she said! We all agreed this may be a sign….You see, the “Saki” she’d adopted from us, was actually her second Shiba named Saki. Now we were offering her yet another dog that shared a name with a beloved pet from her past. It was certainly worth a meet and greet to see what happens. What happened was nothing short of love at first sight, and Katie has been there with Pam ever since!
Katie is now living her best life. She loves her daily walks and has lost the extra weight she’d gained in retirement. She enjoys going to work with Pam where she charms everyone with her very best show dog moves! She’s even managed to turn the big tough maintenance men, into baby talking softies who never miss an opportunity to visit her. Katie clearly loves the attention and having fans!
While it was a great loss for both Katie and Pam that brought them together, they got though it together. Now their lives are filled with the joy and love they bring each other. We call that a happy ending. Congrats to Pam and Katie. May you have many more years together!
