Kenji
Kenji has been adopted! Kenji is another tragic victim of despicable puppy mill breeders. His leg was broken and the breeder did nothing about it, leaving him to suffer while it healed improperly. Although just a couple months old, Kenji was “damaged” and not going to make them any money, thankfully, our friends at the Colorado Japanese Chin Rescue were there to take him. They had his leg surgically repaired, but felt with our breed expertise, we were better equipped to find him the right home.
Rehabbing a crazy Shiba puppy is a lot of work! Kenji would require months of physical therapy and exercise restrictions as he healed and rebuilt strength. But it would also be a lifelong commitment to ongoing orthopedic care and pain management for arthritis as he ages. We needed someone who understood and was up for the challenge.
As we began our search for placement for Kenji, Alumni and donors, Al and Dianne, just so happened to reach out to let us know they were looking for a playmate for Taki. They adopted Taki from us last year. Taki was also a dog who required significant orthopedic care after being hit by a car. Al and Diane were well versed in providing post surgical care and rehabilitating a dog, but what are the chances they would be up for doing it again; and so soon? If you know Al and Dianne, then you are not at all surprised to hear that they said yes, without hesitation.
Kenji and Taki were best buds from the moment they laid eyes on each other and they have been inseparable ever since! Al and Dianne were smitten immediately. They have loved watching Kenji transition from a hurt guarded little boy, to a loving attention hound. He is thriving and we are thrilled, after almost 7 months, to finalize this adoption!
