Jorghi

Jorghi has been adopted! He spent the 1st year of his life in a puppy mill, before being rescued by our friends at Nation Mill Dog Rescue. At the time they had too many Shibas, and given how difficult they can be to place, they asked for our help. Like all mill survivors, we expected Jorghi to face some challenges, but this poor little guy really struggled to fit in everywhere we put him. 9 months and 3 failed foster-to-adopt homes later, we found what we thought was his forever home and he was adopted.
Unfortunately, a year later, Jorghi was not working out there. It became clear he is a dog that needs a home with a yard, and no children. With every failure, we learned more about what Jorghi needed and we were determined to finally get it right. We are so often accused of being “too picky”, but Jorghi is the perfect example of why we have to be. We’d have to insist on, and hold out for the perfect home, for Jorghi’s sake! But with a cross country move for his family pending, we were under a serious time crunch. We were looking for a miracle.
Mark had recently lost his 15 yr old Shiba after 9 years together. He was ready for a new companion, and couldn’t imagine adopting any other breed. Mark’s personality and lifestyle are naturally a good fit for a Shiba. Any of our dogs would be lucky to have him, but he was in a unique position to give a dog like Jorghi exactly what he needed, exactly when he needed it. He was potentially Jorghi’s saving grace. We couldn’t wait for them to meet!
Mark gave Jorghi the time and space he needed and they quickly became best buds. With just the 2 of them in this quiet home with a huge yard, Jorghi is thriving! Mark reports that Jorghi fits perfectly in his home and he simply can’t imagine life without him. It never ceases to amaze us how the right environment, and the right human makes for a completely different (and happy) dog! Congrats Mark and Jorghi. You’re finally home sweet boy!
