10 month old male Shiba Inu, no small children, $400 adoption fee

This adorable boy is looking for his forever home. Kuma is a very sweet, sociable, and playful pup who will mature into a great Shiba!  Kuma needs an active person that will exercise him outside the home at least once a day. He would do well with a runner or avid hiker. He would really benefit from someone who is home more than average; at least initially. Right now, he needs a lot of his human’s attention while he builds confidence and expands his previously sheltered existence. He is quite mouthy, and can get overstimulated. We would not trust him with small children at this point in his life. He is a chewer who will need lots of chew toys and a puppy-proofed home.  He is very smart and has been responsive to at-home training with his foster, but will need professional training. Ideally his adopter will be committed to continued training beyond the usual puppy classes. His foster thinks he’s a good candidate for Canine Good Citizenship.

Kuma is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He is a good leash walker and runner. He is a very social dog with people and other pups. He has not been tested with cats. He would love to have another young playful dog in the home to rough house with. He will need a securely fenced yard.

Kuma’s adoption fee is $400 and includes his neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test, microchip, and initial puppy class with a COSIR approved trainer.
