Kyoshi
3 yr old male Shiba, NO KIDS, NO DOGS, NO CATS, female adopter preferred:
Kyoshi was found near Colorado Blvd. back in March. Lucky for Kyoshi, his finder is a Shiba mom. He is a sweetie, but very fearful, anxious, noise sensitive dog and will need an adopter experienced with mill survivors/fearful dogs. He has formed a strong bond with his finder, but is significantly more anxious and fearful around men, and strangers in general. He will need a home where a female will be his primary caregiver. He cannot live with children.
Kyoshi needs to be an only dog. He has not done well with the other dogs in his temporary home, despite them being Shibas and submissive. He has a very strong prey drive, so cats are not a good idea. He is a resource guarder with food, toys, and his bed/crate. In response to fear, he has delivered some minor bites but has not broken skin. He is muzzle trained.
He is house trained and crate trained. He loves his crate and will require one as a “safe place” in his new home. He is young and has lots of energy. He needs an adopter who loves to go for long dog walks on a daily basis. A regular and consistent exercise routine will help with his anxiety and aid his transition.
Kyoshi is a special boy who deserves to live a joyful life, not a fearful one. We believe this is possible in a calm, stable, and active home with an experienced female adopter, and no dogs.
We currently do not have a foster home available that is appropriate for him. We cannot rescue him until we do. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Kyoshi, please fill out our online adoption application. **If you have already applied with us, please reach out to let us know you are interested, by email at adopt@coloradoshibainurescue.org, or call/text 720-491-1278.
Kyoshi’s adoption fee will be $350 and includes his neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test, microchip, dental (if applicable), and an initial training class or private session with a COSIR approved trainer.
