Lucy & Linus
ADOPTER NEEDED by May 1st! – Lucy & Linus, 11-12 month old Shiba mixes, can adopt separately or together, Linus is the male (lighter coloring), Lucy is the female (darker coloring) and needs buddy dog-
Lucy and Linus came to us from a kill shelter that thought they might be Shiba mixed with Canaan, Carolina Dog, or Husky. They were fearful of people in the shelter and ended up on the euthanasia list in no time at all. We’re not sure there’s much Shiba Inu in them, but they are wonderful pups.
Linus is a sweet, joyful boy that loves to play. He is house trained and likes to spend time in his crate. He loves to snuggle with his foster family, but he is skittish with strangers, and needs time to adjust to new people. Linus was severely underweight when he came into rescue, but he is filling out quickly. Despite his undernourishment, he has not shown any signs of food guarding or food aggression. He is eagerly learning basic commands and how to walk on leash.
Lucy is super smart, high energy, and bosses Linus around (just like the Peanuts gang!). She is house trained, crate trained, and affectionate to her foster family. She will guard her food and eat Linus’s share, so we are working on that behavior. She can be skittish with strangers and new environments but learned to trust her foster family. She knows how to ‘sit’ and is learning to walk on leash. She is a fast runner and agile, so a good fence will be needed to keep her at home.
It is our preference to adopt them together, but they can be separated. Lucy would do best with another dog (that does NOT guard) to play with in the house. Her adopters should have prior experience dealing with these issues. Linus would likely do fine with another dog or as an only dog.
