Monki
7 yr old female Shiba, no apts/condos, $175 adoption fee
This adorable girl is Monki. Her name was Shiba, but we changed it to Monki (monkey in Japanese), because she’s a chunky monkey for sure Her owner took her to his vet asking that she be put down becuase he could no longer care for her. Thankfully, they convinced him to surrender her, and called us. She was severly overweight at 38 lbs. She has 2 torn ACLs that were never repaired, had years of matted up undercoat, and sores on her behind that needed to heal. We put her in a foster home dedicated to getting her healthy and ready for a forever home. We put her on a high quility food, medication for arthritis pain and a joint supplement. She’s walking 2-3 miles every day, and has already lost over 5 lbs! We have seen Monki transform from a lethargic dog in pain, to an energetic, pain-free dog who loves being active! She is house trained, crate trained, good on leash, and good with other dogs. She has not been tested with cats. She is friendly and outgoing when meeting strangers and kids, but has never lived with kids. Because of her arthritis, which will only get worse with age, she would ideally live in a home with no stairs. She is most comfortable outside in the yard, and prefers to spend all her time outside. She is anxious when indoors and will pant and pace unless in her crate, so a home with a yard is a must and she would love a home where people are home a lot, and love to spend lots of time outside with her. We have selected an applicant from our waitlist that we think would be perfect for her and a home visit is pending. Should it not go well for any reason, we will look at other qualified applicants on the waitlist.
Monki’s adoption fee is $175 and includes her spay, vaccinations, heartworm test & prevention, microchip and initial supply of medication and supplement.
