Obi
HOME VISIT PENDING! – 1 yr old male Shiba –
Since he was 8 weeks old, Obi has been with his family since 8 wks old. They have Shiba experience, but their other Shiba is very tolerant when it comes to affection and handling. Obi is more timid and is not having his space respected, but expected to be like his big sister. He needs a home where everyone will respect his space. When his warnings were unnoticed or ignored, Obi learned that biting is a way to get his humans to give him space. None of his bites have resulted in injury, we think he is giving corrections, but those could turn into real bites if we don’t find the right home. We can’t get Obi into rescue until we find a committed foster home, so he’s never forced to bite anyone ever again!
It appears Obi has not had any training. He didn’t appear to know how to walk on leash. He is however, already house broken and loves his crate. He is a door “bolter”, and has chewed through his leash before, so fosters will need to be diligent and prepared to take proper precautions.
Obi has lived with other dogs successfully. He generally ignores other dogs. He lived with a cat with no issues. He has lived in a home with teenagers, and younger kids who visited often, but we don’t think he’s had a good experience with kids of any age. He would do best in a home with no kids, at least initially.
He is accustomed to living in a home with a yard and loves to be outside. He loves squeaky toys, playing fetch, and car rides. He enjoys walks, but has not had enough of them to have good leash skills yet. He is food motivated and very smart, so we will be very responsive to, and enjoy training.
We need a Shiba experienced foster or foster-to-adopt home for Obi in order to bring him into rescue ASAP! Interested? Please visit our website to complete an application today! Already on our waitlist? Reach out by email to adopt@coshibarescue.org, or call/text 720-491-1278.
