Rocky
COURTESY POST: 8 yr old male Shiba Inu, no kids, no dogs, no cats
Rocky is a sweet handsome boy who loves to be near his humans and will always greet them with a wagging tail and a toy when they come home. Rocky is full of life. He has playful energy and a personality that will make you smile. He’s an active dog who goes for 2-4 mile walks every day. He also loves playing fetch, chasing his tail, and doing “zoomies” in his yard.
Rocky has already had 2 homes in just 8 years, so we want to be sure his 3rd home is his last! There are indications that his first home was possibly abusive. He will need time to slowly build trust with his new humans. Like most Shibas he’s not much of a snuggler, but loves giving kisses. His current home is a loving home, but with the addition of their first child, it has become too stressful for him. He needs a calm, quiet home.
Like so many Shibas that were not properly socialized as a pup, and/or have a history of being mishandled, he is a bit anxious, is noise sensitive, and lacks confidence. He is reactive to other dogs and children, and prefers to avoid them. He also has a history of attacking cats. Living with children and other pets has proven to be anxiety inducing for him, causing him to guard his food, toys, and space. Rocky needs a child- free and pet-free home to live his best life.
Rocky is house trained and crate trained; although he has not used his crate in a long time. He is a good boy and can be trusted loose in the house when his humans are not home. Rocky is accustomed to a home with a yard and has been known to alert-bark at passing dogs and people, so an apartment would not be a good fit. Rocky loves car rides and adventures.
Rocky is not in Colorado, or in rescue custody. He is still living in his current home in Oregon. We are working with his family to find qualified applicants living in, or willing to travel to, the Pacific Northwest. If you are interested in Rocky, please complete an adoption application. COSIR will screen all applicants on his family’s behalf. We will put qualified applicants in direct contact with Rocky’s family and help facilitate a private adoption. If you are already on our adoption waitlist and are interested in Rocky, or you have questions before submitting an application, please contact us by email: info@coloradoshibainurescue.org or call/text 720-491-1278.
