Saka
5 yr old female Shiba/Australian Shepherd mix, $275 adoption fee
Saka is an adorable, independent, and curious girl. She is very friendly and more Aussie than Shiba-like in her need for people’s attention. She has lived successfully with children as young as 2 years old. Saka is good with other dogs and cats. Her favorite things are belly rubs and squeaky toys.
Saka is a pretty active girl who likes to play. She needs daily walks and would love regular dog adventures. She is good on leash but will need time to get to know her new neighborhood. She has good manners, but will need a leader to reward and reinforce good behaviors to build her confidence.
She has a tendency to resource guard people and will hoard her toys, so she should not live with dogs that don’t share toys well, or get jealous of your attention.
She will go in a crate, but does not like the door closed, and generally has anxiety when confined. She is in rescue because of her habitual bolting & escaping. The ability to prevent bolting, and a yard with a minimum 5ft. fence, are required to keep her safe.
She has had multiple homes in her 5 years which has deeply effected her. She is a sensitive girl and will take time to adjust to her new environment and feel secure. She needs a home that is subdued and stable, with people that have time to give her lots of attention.
Saka’s adoption fee is $275 and includes her spay, vaccinations, heartworm test, microchip, and training with a rescue approved trainer.
