Nala & Aleu
Nala and Aleu have been adopted! –
This adorable pair of Shibas were surrendered by the only family they’ve ever known. With busy lives and an out-of-state move pending, they felt the girls deserved a better home.
It would be difficult to find a home where they could remain together. Not a lot of people looking to adopt 2 dogs at once. Their age (7 and 8 yrs) added a layer of complexity, as most people want a young dog. Aleu was never a fan of the kids, however, Nala really loved them and would miss having human siblings. Finding a home to fit both their needs was going to be tough. We faced the reality that separating these precious girls might be necessary. It pained us to think of how much harder this transition would be for them without each other.
Terri and her sons, Joseph and George, have adopted from us before. They’d recently lost Lyla, not long after Hachi had passed. It was a given they’d adopt again, but didn’t feel ready; they were still morning. Terri often volunteers for us and likes to keep up with the newest dogs on our website. When she saw Nala and Aleu’s post she was intrigued. Their family has always had 2 Shibas, so they’d ultimately be looking to adopt 2. They weren’t ready, but Terri reached out to ask about them anyway.
When Terri heard we may have to separate them, she said we couldn’t let that happen! She talked to her boys and they agreed to a meet & greet with Nala & Aleu, but made no promises. It may be too soon; they would see how they felt after the meet and greet.
Love at first sight is real; they didn’t want Nala & Aleu to leave! Nala instantly bonded with the boys, and turns out Aleu is a fan of big kids! It’s a big decision, so we asked them to sleep on it. First thing the next morning, we got the call. It was a unanimous; they were ready! Hearing the patter of Shiba paws on the wood floor, the instant love and connection they felt with the girls, and having that Shiba energy in their home again sealed the deal. They couldn’t wait to see the girls again, and cleared their schedule so they could solely focus on getting their new family members settled into their new home. Congrats to Terri, Joseph, George, Nala & Aleu!
